The Creative Industries KTN has successfully bid for six EPSRC Industrial CASE studentships for 2010 and we now invite applications from companies for these industry-sponsored PhD awards.
Applications for 2010 CASE Awards should be clearly aligned with the clearly defined priority areas of the Creative Industries KTN.
Industrial CASE Awards are three and a half year postgraduate awards – funded by the UK Research Councils and allocated to companies either directly or via agents such as Knowledge Transfer Networks and Regional Development Agencies.
Industrial CASE Awards enable companies to take the lead in defining and arranging projects with an academic partner of their choice.
For 2010, industrial sponsors are required to pay a minimum contribution of 1/4 of the total project cost. This translates to payments of ca. £22,300 for the industrial sponsor and ca. £66,838 for the EPSRC. The contribution from the industrial sponsors is paid directly to the University.
Students will be expected to spend at least three months of a three-and-a-half-year award on the premises of the sponsoring company. As there is no maximum limit, the industrial sponsor and the collaborating university should agree on the balance of time spent at the company and at the university.
Regular contact should be maintained between the project partner supervisor/s, student and Creative Industries KTN throughout the lifetime of the project.
Only companies with a UK research and/or manufacturing base are eligible for this competition.
Applications for a Creative Industries 2010 Industrial CASE Award should be made using the application form downloadable from here. Please read the accompanying guidance and assessment criteria available here. Industry partners should submit the form by e-mail to j.sully@arts.ac.uk to arrive no later than 17:00 on 30th July 2010.
Awards will be made and communicated by 3 September 2010. All applicants will be contacted informing them of the outcome of their proposal.
Students for successful projects may be registered between October 2010 and October 2011.
A great deal of useful information about the awards, including answers to FAQs, can be found on the EPSRC website at:
