Quick tips for posting on this forum:

  • Give contact details so potential partners can get in touch
  • Be succinct about what you are offering/looking for. (It would be good to start with the phrase "I'm offering.." or "I'm interested in joining a project that...."

Sheffield Hallam University offers semantic data mining technology based on Formal Concept Analysis (http://www.upriss.org.uk/fca/fca.html). With it, you can construct concept lattices to search for hidden meaning and explore relationships in your metadata. We are looking for a project where we can develop visual analytics for this technology. We have experience of funded projects in this area (see http://www.google.com/search?q=sheffield+hallam+cubist). Contact me at s.andrews@shu.ac.uk.

Offers

Our software provides a means of creating, picturing, curating and analysing metadata in order to identify significant patterns in information space. It enables users to develop and apply dynamic libraries of faceted taxonomies, quickly and intuitively. The output of these processes are otherwise unknowable intelligence feeds, analyses, inferences and conversations. The aim is to create: 1) a new and profitable ‘meta-database’ publishing industry, and 2) a new collaborative knowledge management tool for both large and small businesses.

Needs

In order to scale up, we need our software to be rewritten in the most appropriate programming language. We also need to work with experts in data visualisation software. Our statistical data output is currently limited to time series and bar charts. Our “self signifying” data could be made much more engaging and potent.
