Summer check list for the 18m competition

If you are about to pack your bucket and spade for a summer break, or staying at your desk and hoping to get more done while others are away then this is the time to make sure you have everything in place to take advantage of the £18m collaborative R&D competition.

So here is a quick and easy summer check list of things to do:

Complete your profile. There are almost 1000 people signed up to this community all eager to develop new partnerships, share ideas and innovate so they can bid for a part of the £18m pot. If you haven't told people who you are, what you do, what skills you have, what projects your are working on and the sort of folk you want to work with then you could miss out.

Put the deadline dates in your diary. You need to make sure you don't miss out because you missed a deadline. The next two for the mainstream projects are Aug 12 for deadlines for submission of optional expressions of interest and Aug 19 for submissions of compulsory expressions of interest.

Get along to the marketplace. The Ideas Marketplace is where people post details about the skills they have on offer or the sort of partners they are looking for to help drive a project. Make sure you have posted your information there and have a look for likely partners. For instance on the skills offered marketplace Andy Spence says he is looking for web developers to work with on DIY digital content that can be transformed into interactive sales tools or e-portfolios While on the partners wanted marketplace, Tale of Things, an online memory site that links objects to memories is looking for business opportunities to develop this EPSRC research project.

You can still download the competition documents, view the video interviews with Alex Stanhope of the Technology Strategy Board and launch new discussion on the site.

We will be keeping you up-to-date with developments as the competition progresses.
