Value of Creative Industries underestimated by the DCMS?

In late 2011 a government announcement appeared to downgrade the value of the UK’s Creative Industries by 30%. This dramatic drop isn’t due to any collapse in productivity or export markets but is caused by an adjustment in the way the statistics are calculated. As we appear to slip back into recession, you may be inclined to agree that it is presently not helpful for the UK's Creative Industries to be downgraded in this way.
